Open Days and Events

Worksop College Open Events

We also offer family visits across both schools, as well as online events - both great ways for you to get a feel for our schools and what you can expect from a Worksop College & Ranby House education.

Want to join in-year? Lots of families do! Click HERE to visit our joining in-year pages or give us a call on 01909537100 and we'll talk it through.

What can I expect during a family visit?

Friendly faces

You'll be greeted by one of our Admissions Team or a senior teacher. We'll sit and find out a bit more about what you're looking for in a school and tell you more about us as a community. It's worth bringing a list of questions with you, it will help focus our tour and it's human nature to remember what you wanted to ask the moment you leave!

A good look around

We have some of the most extensive facilities in the region (we even have an 18-hole golf course at our senior site!) and so we'll take you on a tour of our school, usually focusing on the areas your child is particularly interested in or the Key Stage they will be entering at. If you're visiting us during school hours, you'll also see lessons in 'action' - always a great way of getting a feel for a school.  We have 60 acres at Ranby House and 330 at Worksop College, so we recommend comfy shoes!

A chat with the Head

Your visit to us will almost always include a chat with one of our Headteachers. Mr Thorpe (Headmaster at Ranby) or Dr Price (Head across both schools) will sit down with you and your child or children and get to know you all a little better. We're what is known as a 'broad-ability' school which means we don't ask applicants to take an academic entrance test. The chat with the Head - along with school reports - forms part of the Admissions process. We want to make sure we are a good fit for each other - our school is a close community and families are very much involved so it's important we get to know each other well.
