Our Confirmation Service brings a sense of community to the College

Last Friday saw our Confirmation service take place in the Chapel.

College Chaplain, Paul Finlinson said:

“We were pleased to welcome Tony Porter, Bishop of Sherwood to our Confirmation service last Friday.”

Eight students from Year 8 and the Sixth Form were joined by seven Year 6 pupils from Ranby House, one parent, a member of staff and a candidate from Christ Church in Worksop for this service of personal commitment.

Paul continued:

“The support given by the rest of the school to those being confirmed is a striking feature of our community, where the Chapel stands at the centre of our values and where confirmation provides an opportunity for our pupils to develop both their participation in the life of the community and in their own journey of faith.”

Tanya Hutson, Mum to Year 6 student Laurie Hutson, who was confirmed at the service said:

“As existing parents who attend Chapel regularly, believe me, the impact was exactly the same; we consider it an absolute privilege to be part of the Worksop College family.”

Tanya was joined by her Mum, Norma Young, who was visiting the College for the first time.

She said:

“I found the service very moving and in such a beautiful place of worship, I was overwhelmed by the magnificence.”

She continued:

“It was fantastic to see the splendour of the Chapel organ and powerful voices of the Chapel Choir, including getting to see my granddaughter, Francesca in the Choir. The whole service was quite simply divine.”

Tanya concluded:

“To witness those being confirmed, including pupils as young as Year 6 and the sense of community and support from all the students and staff made for a most memorable Confirmation Day experience for our whole family.”
