The wet, windy weather didn’t hold Amelia back at the English Schools XC Championships

This weekend, Year 9 pupil, Amelia Chrispin travelled with her Nottinghamshire Schools XC team, to represent Worksop College and Nottinghamshire in the English Schools XC Championships.

Amelia had qualified to race in the Nationals by winning the Nottinghamshire Schools XC in February. This year the Championships were held at a very wet, windy and muddy Temple Newsam, Leeds.

She was competing against 353 other girls, from 45 counties, who had all qualified to race in the very competitive 3km junior girls’ race.

Amelia’s Dad, Neil said:

“She started fairly well in the strong field and after the first few minutes was in the top 50 runners. She continued to run well on the tough muddy course, passing runners all the time, and with a strong finish managed to cross the line in a brilliant 18th place.”

Congratulations to Amelia, a fantastic result on the National stage. We look forward to seeing you represent the College in your last race of the XC season, in the EMISXCL at Stamford on Saturday.
