Women's History Month

After weeks of hard work and learning about the many triumphs (and tribulations) of women across the globe and across history, Worksop College’s very first Women’s History Month Showcase took place on Friday 29 March.

Carefully curated by Sixth Form students, Lauren Shuker, Eleanor Smith and Sarah Handley, the showcase featured work from students in Year 7 all the way up to Upper Sixth, and with a number of performances from Year 7 students -  was a celebration not only of women’s history and the drive towards equality, but of the abundance of talent at Worksop College.

English Teacher, Miss Neal said,

“Some key highlights of the event featured a performance of The Suffragette Song, sung in the style of Shawn Mendes’ ‘Stitches’ and a rap about women’s rights that was written and performed by Max Poynor, a Year 7 student. Mrs Tilley also gave an inspiring speech, urging students of all genders to support one another so that they might 'leave the door open for the next generation of strong women'.

A huge thank you to all involved and to all those who supported the event: it was truly appreciated.”
