Charis Bronze - Mechanical Engineering

Dr Charis Bronze visits from the University of Sheffield to talk about Mechanical Engineering and what it is, with a focus on some of her personal research into the area.

Charis graduated from the University of Sheffield after studying for an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2012.

She then went on to study for a PhD in Additive Manufacturing and Human Interactions. Whilst studying for her PhD, Charis took some time out of her studies to work for a Science Radio Show and podcast called The Naked Scientists, which is broadcast on the BBC.

During this time she interviewed STEM researchers and policy makers from all over the world, with one of the highlights being an organised race between a Tesla supercar and its petrol equivalent for radio and TV broadcasts.

After graduating from her PhD in 2017, Charis then went on to become the Widening Participation Officer at the University of Sheffield, where she facilitates and organises all of the outreach events for the Faculty of Engineering.

In her spare time, Charis enjoys running and taking her dog Winston for walks in the Peak District.
