The question “What does Worksop College mean to me?” is a simple one to answer, as it’s one that I have often thought about. It, of course, means many things, but essentially, for me, it comes down to one.
It’s a place I never knew before I arrived, and somewhere I never really intended on staying so long. It’s where I work, but it’s so much more than that. Like many staff, it’s the place where our own children grow, where we share in the big life events: the weddings, the christenings, and the funerals. It’s a whole life for some; for a few years for others; for a few more.
It’s a beautiful place to be every day - from the cloisters to the chapel to the magnificent grounds. It’s a place where the pupils come first, and working with them is the best part of our days. It has heart.
So, Worksop College has, and always will, come down to that one thing for me: the people, past, present, and future.
“I believe the entrance halls of buildings still retain the echo of footsteps of those who used to cross them and have since vanished.” - Modiano
