I was the first girl to attend Worksop. I joined for the Sixth Form when Christopher Everett was Headmaster, and was later joined by two other girls in my second year.
We didn’t have a house of our own, so we used a room in the Headmaster’s house for our study. I have newspaper cuttings from that time, along with some amusing anecdotes. I have already sent copies of the press articles to the OW.
Since I had no house to belong to, I initially walked with the masters to the High Table for lunch. Later, it was decided that I would circulate to the different house tables – a rather nerve-wracking experience for me.
The only exercise we had was swimming in the lovely pool, overseen by Mr Baines. When the three girls swam, the pool was closed to any other users!
