If you have any questions, please contact the Bursary.

What is Day Extra?

Day Extra continues to form part of the standard fee package for all day pupils.

In addition to their usual day provision, all day pupils are entitled to seven complimentary boarding nights per academic year:

  • 3 nights in the Autumn Term
  • 2 nights in the Spring Term
  • 1 night in the Summer Term

These nights are included within school fees and are designed to provide additional flexibility for families whilst allowing pupils to benefit more fully from the wider life of the College.

What are the benefits of Day Extra for my child?

Day Extra enables students to:

  • Stay overnight during busy periods (e.g. rehearsals, sports fixtures, prep and activities)
  • Gain greater independence and experience more of boarding life
  • Be part of the wider College community experience
  • Access common rooms, personal desk space and evening activities
  • Enjoy greater flexibility and routine during term time

How do I book the complimentary boarding nights?

Families will continue to book Day Extra nights through House staff.

Further information regarding the booking arrangements for 2026/27 will be shared during the Summer Term.

As part of the College’s evolving boarding provision, boarding accommodation will now be centred within two boarding houses. Whilst this will continue to provide an excellent experience for pupils, overall boarding capacity will be more limited than in previous years. Early booking and communication with House staff is therefore encouraged.

Please note that complimentary nights cannot be used on selected high-demand evenings, including major House events such as House Song, House Dinners and end-of-term House events, where capacity is prioritised.

What if I want my child to stay overnight more frequently?

Occasional Boarding Packages remain available for families wishing to access additional nights beyond the complimentary Day Extra allocation. Occasional boarding charge is £90 per night.

Packages available:

  • 10 nights for the price of 9
  • 5 nights for the price of 4 thereafter

These packages may be used flexibly throughout the academic year and are bookable through House staff or the Bursary, subject to availability.

Please note that availability may be more limited during 2026/27 due to revised boarding arrangements and reduced overall capacity.

Can unused complimentary nights be rolled over to the next term?

No – unused complimentary boarding nights cannot be carried over to the following term.

Families are encouraged to plan ahead each term and to bear in mind that complimentary nights are not available on certain high-demand evenings.

Will boarding availability be guaranteed for Day Extra nights?

The College will do its best to accommodate requests for Day Extra and Occasional Boarding nights; however, availability will depend on boarding capacity at the time of booking.

As boarding accommodation will now be centred within two boarding houses, overall capacity will be more limited than in previous years and early communication with House staff is recommended.

What if I’m already a flexi-boarder – am I entitled to the additional seven Day Extra nights?

Yes, all current flexi-boarders remain entitled to the seven complimentary Day Extra nights.

This provides additional flexibility for pupils to stay on site when needed and to participate more fully in College life.

Does this change affect full or weekly boarders?

No – Day Extra is specific to day pupils.

Full and weekly boarders will continue to enjoy their existing boarding provision and remain at the centre of College boarding life.

Will transportation arrangements change for Day Extra pupils?

What if my child does not want to use the boarding nights – can I receive a reduction in fees?

Day Extra forms part of the standard day provision at Worksop College and is designed to enhance the overall educational experience available to every pupil.

As such, it is included within the fee structure whether or not families choose to use the complimentary nights.

No fee reductions are therefore available where Day Extra is not used.

My child is currently a flexi-boarder – can I move to Day Extra instead?

Yes.

Families who no longer require regular flexi-boarding may move to Day Extra provision.

Pupils will continue to have access to the seven complimentary nights and may purchase additional Occasional Boarding Packages where required.

A full term’s written notice must be provided to the Bursary to make this change.
