Worksop Music Concert Series

Run by the College for music-lovers across the region, Worksop Music is a non-profit venture which aims to provide significant cultural enrichment at an accessible cost.

Attracting artists from across the UK and beyond, this series also features home-grown talent from across the school’s pupils and staff. This year’s programme continues the strong spirit of education imbued with quality and diversity and there are also a couple of events which mark the College's 125th Anniversary. The anniversary events, which would have been held last year had it not been for the Coronavirus pandemic, aim to bring to life some founding principles of the College as well as recreating music which was composed at the time.

There will be much to marvel as, from the infectious energy and creative reimaginings of jazz trio, Parodolia, to the world renowned performances of VOCES8 who will sprinkle their startdust over us in January.

I hope that the reawakening of live music-making will bring us all great joy this year and look forward to welcoming you to as many concerts as possible.

David Briggs: The Phantom of the Opera

A unique cinema experience with a twist - we are showing one of the greatest silent films ever made, the classic 1925 film version of Phantom of the Opera, starring Lon Chaney, together with live, improvised organ accompaniment from international recitalist David Briggs. Formerly organ  scholar of King's College, Cambridge & Organist of Gloucester Cathedral, David Briggs holds a reputation as one of the most fluent and expert improvisers in the  world. This is cinema as it used to be with a musician to capture the mood as the silent movie’s images flash across the silver screen - an exhilarating evening’s entertainment. The evening will begin with a champagne reception in the atmospheric College Library, during which you will be able to meet and talk with the artist.
