Traditionally, girls and boys have had to follow set sports, led by their gender. Children being ‘pushed’ down a sporting route can, as a result, be put off the particular sport for life. In the modern world, this ethos is changing and we believe that all children should have the opportunity to choose the sport they participate in for their coached Games lessons.
This weekend saw the first Ranby House Friday Night Boarding Special of the year - Campfire in the Woods. We caught up with newly appointed Head of Boarding, Ms Varney, to find out what adventures the group got up to.
Last Friday saw the ‘installation’ of the schools’ new Chaplain, Father Matthew Askey. The service saw Matthew licensed by the Bishop of Sherwood, with Woodard’s Brendan Clover also presiding over the event. The term Installed means being ‘put into your seat’ or ‘stall’ as they are better known for Clergy men and women.

As part of our commitment to providing a breadth of opportunity, we are pleased to announce that from this academic year, we will be providing FREE tuition on an orchestral instrument to every member of Year 7.
Celebrations continued today as GCSE students at Worksop College received their results.
Despite changes to the GCSE grading system and reportedly more difficult exams, students took it in their stride, with just under a 10% increase on 2018 for those getting the very top grades of A*, A and 7-9, (equivalent to A* and A).
Almost a week on from A-level Results Day and the Sixth Form Team is celebrating the news that, as well as a 100% pass rate and a 7% increase across the highest grades, 55% of the university destinations of Worksop College students are Russell Group universities.
Big smiles and happy tears this morning as our A level students received their results. With 100% pass rate and some stunning individual results, our school has seen a 9% increase in A-C grades on last year and a 7% increase on pupils achieving A and A* grades.
This news is even more impressive, given the fact that almost all A-levels have now been reformed, with the continuous testing of the previous regime removed and almost everything now riding on final exams.
The sun shone brightly over East Field as the annual Sports Day took place on Thursday 27 June. It was a close competition, with Wapiti (Portland), Gibbs and Shirley taking the victory in their groups. See below for the House results.
Yesterday, the Worksop College Chapel Choir were live on the Jenny Kendall-Tobias show, BBC Radio Guernsey. We caught up with Music Department Administrator, Dr Walters, who gave us a rundown of the broadcast.
