Worksop College Diploma

A credit-bearing, super-curricular qualification that rewards curiosity, independence and leadership.

Designed for Lower and Upper Sixth pupils, the Worksop College Diploma builds on our Sixth Form project by encouraging pupils to be academically engaged, independent learners and confident leaders - rooted in the College values of Compassion, Integrity and Dedication. The Diploma is recognised and endorsed by several universities and helps pupils stand out on applications by evidencing meaningful, sustained intellectual engagement beyond the classroom.

How it works

  • The Diploma runs across Lower and Upper Sixth.

  • Each super-curricular activity is assigned a number of credits. Pupils collect credits over the two years.

  • To achieve the award, pupils must reach a required credit total and meet specific Elective attendance requirements (see below).

  • Credits are awarded for activities offered by the College and for appropriate, verified activities pupils complete independently.

Examples of credit-earning activities

The list below is illustrative - each activity carries a credit value depending on its duration and level of challenge.

  • Lecture series and internal competitions
  • External and internal essay competitions

  • Extended Project Qualification (EPQ)

  • Bridging unit work (pre-university preparation)

  • Delivering mini-TED style talks or presentations

  • Serving as a Subject Ambassador

  • Attendance and participation in Electives

  • Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) and online certifications

  • Attendance at Academic & Professional Enrichment Clinics

Electives - an essential component

Electives are short, focused series run by academic staff or visiting experts. They give pupils a chance to explore topics outside their exam specifications and to work on a small, formative project.

  • Year 12 requirement: attend at least one Elective every two series in Lower Sixth.

  • Year 13 requirement: attend at least one Elective per series in Upper Sixth.

  • The Diploma cannot be awarded without the required Elective attendance.

  • Credits are awarded for full participation in an Elective; additional credits are available for completing an optional project at the end of the series.
