Cricket at Worksop College

Worksop College takes pride in its rich sporting history, particularly in the realm of cricket, counting the cricketing legend Joe Root among our alumni.

Being a hub of sporting excellence, our cricket scholars have access to some of the best facilities in the area. They benefit from customised strength and conditioning programmes, guidance from in-house professionals as well as external experts, and valuable networking opportunities. We take great pride in the comprehensive scholarship programme tailored for our aspiring cricketers.

Coaches

Adam Tillcock, Head of Cricket - Before joining us as our Head of Cricket, Mr Tillcock played for the Notts first team, his standout moment being against Bangladesh "A," where he contributed an unbeaten 97 in a List-A match, securing a record-breaking partnership. He then played for West Indian Cavaliers and Kimberley Institute CC. From 2016 to 2019, he excelled with Lincolnshire CCC, winning three Minor Counties Eastern Division titles. With a Sport and Exercise Psychology Degree from Loughborough University, Mr Tillcock captained Loughborough MCCU in six First-Class matches from 2017 to 2019. He also ventured into coaching at Hampton Central Cricket Club in Melbourne during the winter of 2019/20.

Karanjit Bansal, Cricket Pro - Karanjit has been coaching full time for the past five years at his own company, KSB Cricket Coaching, and has experience at Lincolnshire County Cricket Board, Hull University, and Scunthorpe Town Cricket Club. As the Head Coach of Scunthorpe Town Cricket Club, he oversees junior to senior coaching, witnessing several juniors progress to senior and 1st XI cricket. Mr Bansal's coaching philosophy is centered on building strong off-pitch relationships, focussing on helping players grow into their best selves on and off the field. Nurturing confidence within players is his key approach, believing it naturally enhances skills. Building connections beyond the sport aids in understanding individuals and extracting their best.
