Lauren & Andrew's Wedding Day

Old Worksopian, Lauren Windsor (née Round) Shirley 2001-2006 recently came back to the College to get married.

Here, she tells us about the big day, how she and her partner met and why she chose to get married at Worksop College.

"We met when I started working at the Mount Pleasant Hotel during the summer holidays while I was at University, which then became my full-time Job as a Wedding Co-ordinator and Andrew as Food and Beverage Manager, and the rest is history!

When we started to plan our wedding, we both decided we needed to find a venue that was unique, as we both had worked in the hotel industry for many years and especially with me organising weddings at work.

Straightaway, I thought of Worksop, after meeting with the Enterprise Manager, Colin to show Andrew the College, we both knew it was the perfect venue for our special day.

It felt like home as soon as we walked through the reception doors, Colin was so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble.

I can remember meeting with Tim Uglow (Music Director) the day before our wedding to go through our music choices and as soon as the Organ started playing while standing on the balcony, we just knew it was going to be magical.

One of our most memorable parts to our wedding day was walking out of Chapel to ‘Widor's Toccata’ as the new Mr. and Mrs. Windsor. The music is so memorable as an OW and sounds fantastic on the organ."
