County Champs success for Worksop College Swim Squad

It’s been a week of incredible triumphs for the Worksop College Swim Squad, with one Swim England call-up and a County Championship medal haul to be proud of.

Last weekend, Max, Year 10 (M), was invited to attend the Swim England National Youth Development Sprint Camp. Only 12 swimmers were selected to attend the prestigious three-day camp (8 able-bodied and 4 para swimmers).

Commenting on his selection, Worksop College Head Swim Coach Giannis Valkoumas said Max’s hard work has well and truly paid off. “Max is someone who turns up to every session with the right work ethic, he shows continuing improvement and sets his goals higher with every training session. This amazing opportunity was well earned.”

Pelham Housemaster Mr Franse said this season’s incredible performances are testament to the hard work that’s gone into their training:
“The squad has smashed our medal target for this year so far, and it’s all down to the effort they put into their training every day. Myself and coach Giannis believe in this squad and they believe in themselves. I’m looking forward to the next round of competitions. We also had some great performances from up and coming members of the squad. Many congratulations to Luke Baughan-Withington, Emilio McCann, Owen Rafferty, Harvey Diack, Holly Hunter, Amy Kinch, Evie Holmes, Andy Edgar, Neve Franse, Niamh Strauther and Neve Diack, all whom made the counties selection for their clubs, and recorded some impressive PBs.”
