  • A great start to the Netball season for Meg

    It has been an extremely  positive start to the netball season for one of our year 9  Sports Scholars. Megan Perkins, who is in Derry House, found a real joy for the sport whilst playing at Ranby House School and readily admits that she owes great thanks to the belief her games teachers Miss Harvey and Mrs Wing had in her as an individual and as a player.  "Being captain of my school's Year 6 netball team brought out the very best in me, it taught me how to be a team player, showed me I could lead and gave me a sport I absolutely love", she said.

  • Sport for all - Headmaster David Thorpe's vision for non-gender specific sport

    Traditionally, girls and boys have had to follow set sports, led by their gender. Children being ‘pushed’ down a sporting route can, as a result, be put off the particular sport for life. In the modern world, this ethos is changing and we believe that all children should have the opportunity to choose the sport they participate in for their coached Games lessons.

  • Welcoming Father Matthew: A new chapter for Worksop College & Ranby House

    Last Friday saw the ‘installation’ of the schools’ new Chaplain, Father Matthew Askey. The service saw Matthew licensed by the Bishop of Sherwood, with Woodard’s Brendan Clover also presiding over the event. The term Installed means being ‘put into your seat’ or ‘stall’ as they are better known for Clergy men and women.
