With interest across both Worksop College and Ranby House growing rapidly, we are thrilled to have Sophie Parnell join our fantastic EYFS team in the Nursery! At the end of her first week at Ranby House, we caught up with Miss Parnell to find out how she was feeling about her new start.
Tell us a bit about your background and career so far.
I have been qualified to work with children since July 2020, where I have since worked at Welbeck Child First as a room lead in the baby room (0-1s). Whilst being at Welbeck, I have covered in the other age groups and loved them all equally! I also volunteered in my spare time to help out at Redlands Primary School and gained experience in working with reception aged children up to Year two.
I am currently in the second year of studying my Foundation Degree in Childhood Studies, which I am thoroughly enjoying, and have the hopes of studying my Top-Up Degree and then going onto becoming a teacher.
I have always known I would absolutely love to work with children!
What attracted you to this role?
I know that Ranby House has an absolutely amazing reputation in the local area, being situated on beautiful grounds, so when I saw this role come up, I just knew I had to apply. I love the values and ethos of the school too!
What are you first impressions of our school?
I am almost at the end of my first week at Ranby House and have been made to feel very welcome by all the children and staff - I can't wait to get to know everyone further!
What do you hope to achieve in your role?
I hope to build positive bonds with all the children and I feel very honoured to be part of their educational journey. I am looking forward to being able to share my activity ideas for the children, and working alongside the amazing team of EYFS staff.
What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?
My parents have always taught me that anything is possible to achieve with lots of hard work and determination!
