Tennis Triumph

This week marks the halfway point of the tennis season, so we sat down with Mr Heeramun (Head of Rackets) to get a summary of the season so far as well as an exciting update on our partnership with ClubRackets.com, a Sheffield based business specialising in tennis, badminton and other racket sports.

"The season has been hectic so far, with Boys and Girls teams running from Year 7 up to Senior ages. The Men's and Ladies 1st VI started the season at home to Lincoln Minster, in what is many players final season at the school, having progressed all the way through since joining. The highlight so far is the Men's 1st Team finishing 5th & 6th in a doubles tournament organised by St Peter's York. Elsewhere, 13 juniors travelled to Rugby School for the ISA Nationals. Becky (Year 9) scooping up a 3rd place finish in awful weather. After half-term sees the conclusion of the LTA Cup fixtures for U15 & 13, hoping to replicate our qualification to last year's finals in Shrewsbury. House competitions for girls and boys will also run, which are always hotly contested."

Worksop College is also proud to announce a Partnership with Club Rackets (https://clubrackets.com/). Started locally by Ian Sills, Club Rackets operates a store in Sheffield as well as online, offering first class service and advice on rackets, footwear and clothing. Their YouTube channel grew significantly over COVID lockdown, and they also offer a racket demo service, where you can try before you buy. All pupils and staff can use the code WORKSOPCOLL at the checkout for 7.5% discount on all tennis items.
