Woodard Schools (Nottinghamshire) Ltd has determined that it is exempt from the provision of section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Consequently we require that applicants disclose any convictions or cautions regardless of whether they are “spent”.
This is because the school has a duty to ensure that potential employees are suitable to be employed within an environment with children and students with special needs. You are therefore not entitled to withhold information about a previous conviction or caution on the grounds that it is “spent” under the Act.
Details of any convictions or cautions that you disclose will be treated as completely confidential. Please note that having a criminal record will not necessarily be a bar to obtaining a position with Woodard Schools (Nottinghamshire) Ltd.
