Year 10 Take Derbyshire for Silver DofE

Last weekend, Year 10 students dusted off their hiking boots and gathered their camping supplies in a bid to complete their Silver DofE qualifier.

The group took on the Edale Valley area of Derbyshire. Their pre-planned route took them along Ladybower Reservoir, the Hope Valley, Mam Tor, Hollins Cross and Lose Hill. By the end of the trip, students had completed the necessary three days and two nights qualifying expedition, meaning their silver qualifier was accomplished.

Worksop College staff were ideally positioned along the route, offering support and encouragement to the tired team of hikers. They were faced by a host of challenging conditions - not just hot weather, but also cold winds.

Major Payne, DofE Manager, told us:

"The students have made themselves proud - they have learned commitment, communication, leadership and teamwork. I was so impressed with how they took every challenge on the chin. I'm looking to working with this team in achieving their gold!"
