Opening Doors to Opportunity
From September 2026, Worksop College will be awarding two 100% means-tested scholarships to pupils joining Year 7.
These scholarships are designed to give bright, academically talented children the opportunity to benefit from an independent school education at Worksop College, regardless of their financial or domestic circumstances.

This scholarship, named after former pupil Chad Varah, is our most prestigious academic award.
It is awarded to pupils who demonstrate:
- Excellent academic achievement and potential
- A genuine passion for learning
- Outstanding behaviour and a positive attitude
The scholarship is awarded for the full duration of a pupil’s education at Worksop College, from Year 7 to A Levels, subject to strong academic performance and exemplary conduct.
Who Is Eligible to Apply?
Scholarships are awarded to high-calibre pupils who show the ability, determination, and motivation to succeed academically.
Applicants must also be able to demonstrate that their family is in need of financial assistance, which will be assessed through our means-tested bursary process.
Application and Selection Process
We are committed to a fair and transparent selection process. To be eligible for a 100% scholarship, applicants must:
- Attend an interview with the Headmaster
- Achieve a mean CAT4 score of 130
- Submit a means-tested bursary application

- 15 December – Applications open
- 31 January – Application deadline
- Week commencing 2 February – Assessments and interviews
- 13 February – Scholarships awarded and feedback provided
