Health and well-being for child development

This unit provides an overview of parenthood’s roles and responsibilities, from pre-conception through antenatal to postnatal care. Pupils develop an appreciation of the importance of creating the best conditions for a child to thrive.

Understand the equipment and nutritional needs of children from birth to 5 years

Pupils learn about the range of equipment and nutritional and hygiene requirements of children from birth to five years in a practical setting. 

Understand the development norms of a child from birth to 5 years

Pupils investigate children’s developmental norms from birth to five years and develop an understanding of the impact. Knowledge and understanding is demonstrated through practical activities.

You enjoy developing and learning practical skills that can be applied to real-life contexts and work situations. Child Development could be the first step of a career as a Nursery Nurse, an Early Years Teacher, Family Support Worker, Nursery Manager, Children’s Nurse, Social Worker and more.
